Lennie Derde awarded ESICM Honorary Membership

Ecraid CEO Lennie Derde has been awarded Honorary Membership of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine, recognising her outstanding contribution to the field of Intensive Care Medicine.

Each year, the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) awards Honorary Membership to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the Society or to the specialty.

This prestigious distinction recognises Lennie’s longstanding commitment to advancing intensive care medicine, both through her clinical and scientific work and her contributions to the wider intensive care community.

ESICM President Jan de Waele, says, "Lennie Derde has changed two things ESICM cares about a great deal: how we do clinical trials in intensive care, and how we teach the people who deliver it. He adds:

"Formidably intelligent, with a rare ability to absorb an enormous quantity of information and hand back the clean synthesis of it. Focused and practical, always interested in what will actually work. Open-minded, and willing to discuss anything with anyone. And alongside all of that, a great friend: the colleague who asks how you are doing and waits for the real answer.

For the rigour she has brought to clinical research in intensive care, for the structure she has given to ESICM’s education, and for the generosity with which she has done both, ESICM is proud to welcome Dr Lennie Derde as an Honorary Member."

A Lifelong Distinction

The Honorary Membership is a lifelong distinction and includes complimentary membership of ESICM. Recipients are nominated by the ESICM Council and selected following a formal review process.

“It is a great honour, and a humbling one, to receive this honorary membership from the ESICM. I am grateful to have worked alongside so many outstanding colleagues within this society. Their dedication to education, research, collaboration, and the sharing of knowledge has been truly inspiring and continues to shape and advance the field of intensive care medicine.” – Lennie Derde.

Congratulations, Lennie, on this well-deserved recognition!
