Postgraduate Course 2025: Better Methods for Clinical Studies

The fourth edition of Ecraid and ESCMID’s postgraduate course 'Better Methods for Clinical Studies in Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology' will take place from 28 to 30 October 2025 in Athens, Greece.  

  

 

Are you a young or early-career researcher working in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases using epidemiological and statistical methods? If yes, then this course is for you. A slate of distinguished experts from across Europe and beyond will help you enhance your skills in the field.

Jointly organised by Ecraid and ESCMID, our annual postgraduate course schedule is designed for researchers who are seeking to advance their knowledge, skills, and expertise in the fields of infectious diseases and clinical microbiology.

Workshop Goals

The three-day course will provide participants with practical knowledge on how to phrase a research question, gain insights into selecting appropriate research designs and methodologies tailored to specific research objectives and acquire the necessary techniques for writing concise and informative research reports that effectively communicate findings to relevant stakeholders. 

Our experts will cover topics relevant to a wide variety of research approachers, including:

  • Observational studies and adaptive designs
  • Systematic reviews and meta-analyses
  • Large databases, AI, and more.

Course Grants

Ecraid Grants

Ecraid is offering 14 attendance grants to participants who are members of the Ecraid network. The grant application is open. Apply here.

The grant is only offered to members of the Ecraid network (and based in Europe) and will cover the attendance fee (including the three-night stay, lunches and coffee breaks during the course, and educational material). Please be aware this differs from the attendance grant offered by ESCMID to their members. 

Travel costs must be arranged by attendees and are not covered by this grant. 

GARDP Grants

GARDP - the Global Antibiotic Research & Development Partnership - has generously offered five attendance grants for this course. Applicants can apply by filling out the form available here

Please note that priority will be given to applicants from low- and middle-income countries.

The applications will be reviewed by an Ecraid panel. GARDP will not be involved in the selection of successful applicants. 

ESCMID Grants

Ecraid's partner ESCMID - European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases - has also generously offered five attendance grants for this course to ESCMID members. Application can be done on the ESCMID Course Registration page

Travel costs must be arranged by attendees and are not covered by this grant. 

The deadline for applying for all above-mentioned grants is on 30 June.

 
Accreditation

ESCMID Office will apply for accreditation.

Each participant can only eceive the number of credits according to actual participation in the event and upon completion of the feedback survey.

Certification

The course organisers will monitor attendance. Only participants attending live sessions will be able to receive the certification.
