Online GCP course

Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training supports clinical trial investigators by offering them practical guidance to optimising the often difficult recruitment of patients. The EU-funded project COMBACTE, in collaboration with the European Centre for Clinical Research Training (ECCRT), first began offering online GCP trainings to its hospital network, CLIN-Net, back in 2014.

Now that that network is sustained in Ecraid, CLIN-Net continues to provide free online GCP training to its member sites.

The course

The Ecraid online GCP course is provided by the ECCRT in its virtual campus. It is free of charge for members of the Ecraid network. A full course can be followed if you do not have a GCP certificate yet, while a refresher course will be provided in case your certificate is about to expire or has been recently expired.

The training enables participants to understand the responsibilities of everyone involved in clinical research. It teaches the conduct, performance, monitoring, and reporting of a clinical trial using interactive quizzes and exercises for self-assessment. A trainer from ECCRT is available to answer questions.

Participants’ knowledge on GCP is tested with a final exam.

The course takes approximately seven hours (full course) or four hours (refresher course). It can be started and stopped at any time, and can be completed within three months after registration. When a course is successfully completed, participants receive a certificate that demonstrates they operate according to the latest international ethical and scientific guidelines and standards.

The GCP training meets the Minimum Criteria for ICH GCP Investigator Site Personnel Training identified by “TransCelerate BioPharma” as necessary to enable mutual recognition of GCP training among trial sponsors. The training is complete and up to date, including the ICH-GCP E6 (R2) Addendum 2016.
